Volunteer

Thank you for wanting to find out more ways on which you can help us at Mexico GenWeb.  Below are the available options for volunteering with Mexico GenWeb.  If you find that you are available in another way that is not listed here, please email the Mexico Coordinator.

Ways to Help Out:

            The options are:

  • State Coordinator – Take over the State page that the Webmaster has created. You will be added as a User and will not have to start from the beginning.  The webmaster will also be there for guidance.  Which includes the following:
    1. You will need to add to your State page, the information, research helps, and site links that you have search and found on the internet.
    2. You will need to update your adopted state’s page a minimum of once a year.
    3. You must respond to the Quarterly e-mail blasts from the webmaster as an indicator that you are still interested in being a State Coordinator.  If you decide to no longer be the State Coordinator and you want to put the State back up for Adoptions, you must notify the webmaster immediately via e-mail with the subject: Resigning as State Coordinator of [Name of State].
  • State Helper – is someone who wants to help but doesn’t have all of the time needed to maintain the requirements.
    1. A state helper is someone who is able to scour the internet for website, books, tools, resource that would be helpful to the State they are supporting.  They would then email the Mexico Coordinator all of the info they have found.  The following must be included:
      1. A brief summary for each link, tool, book or resource must be included in the e-mail. If you provide links, they will nit be included without the summary.  I will then take your information and include it on the appropriate state page.  You will get credit for the submission.
      2. They must register as a member of the support team.  When you submit your information, an email will be sent to you with a link for you to register.  Your registration will include your name, a brief genealogical bio, your address (so I can send you my Thank You’s) and whether or not you want to be included in the directory.
  • Moderator for a Forum (COMING SOON)– is someone who wants to help moderate a query or surname forum. You must agree to the following in order to be appointed as a moderator for one of the forums.
    1. Read the Moderator’s guidelines. COMING SOON
    2. You must agree to the Moderator’s agreement.  COMING SOON.
    3. They must register as a member of the support team.  When you are contacted regarding being a moderator, an email will be sent to you with information and a link for you to register.  Your registration will include your name, a brief genealogical bio, your address (so I can send you my Thank You’s) and whether or not you want to be included in the directory.
