Prior to 1918
Estonia was apart of Russia.
In 1918 Estonia proclaimed its
independence
and was formally
recognized as a nation in 1920.
In 1940, with a
pact
between Hitler and Stalin,
Estonia was then controlled by the Soviet
Union.
Following the fall
of the Soviet Union, Estonia was
again recognized as an independent
county and
in 1991 and became
a member of the European
