to Ceylon, looking for employment,He was from high Vellalar
caste, during the
Dutch period. He was appointed Customs collector to Pt. Pedro.
He was known as
Rasaldor Kanapathipillai of Puloly He started building the
Sivan temple in
Puloly, Pt. Pedro.in 1782. (see
article below)was completed in 1814.
(It is
said that building the temple,Verapathira Chettiar and Ramasamy
Chettiar
participated.)
(Karaikal is a major
port town in the east
coast of South India,Puducherry India.) (It is also said, later
he got down 7
relative families from South India,and settled in 7 villages.)
(One of the
relatives was Narasinghatheva, who settled in Myliddy.
(Another theory is
according to the Golden
book of India, during the Tamil Kingdom of Ceylon
(1215-1624)when Indian kings
were ruling ,there were 7 prominent famiies in Jaffna.And this
family,where
Narasinghadesa Mudliyar, was a member, existed and is one of the
7 families.)

Kumburumoolai in Kiran.The family had moved to this property
before 1910.As at
year 2023, there is supposed to be an army camp in that
property)
His name included
in Register of voters 1913
list, and 1919 list of Ceylon Gazette.

is said that after the death of Sountharam Ponnusamy ,his wife,
Sinnappu
Thiagarajah re married and had 4 more children.Sinnappu

Narasinghadesa Mudaliyar, the head
of one of the seven original families of
Jaffna under the Indian Kings. His
son, Illankanarayana Mudaliyar, was
Reswadore under the Portuguese
Government. His grandson, Yiswa-
natha Pillai, was the Manager of the
Siva Temple at Point Pedro ; of whom
Ebenezer Crowther is a son. He is
President of Batticaloa North.
