Devale from 1945-55. He was succeeded by his first cousin G B
Katugaha in 1945
and it was during his term office that the Sri Ramakrishna
Mission of India
commenced and completed the construction of the Pilgrims Rest,
The Sri
Ramakrishna Mission Madam at Kataragama. Educated
at Uva
College and Trinity College Kandy, commenced life as an
Agricultural Instructor
in the early 1920's qualifying from among the first few
batches of students of
the Government School of Agriculture at Gannoruwa
Peradeniya. Officiated
as a Member of the Agricultural Board and was Chairman of the
Badulla District
Paddy Growers Association. Government Clerical Service from
1912 and by 1919
was officiating Rate Mahatmaya of Wellawassa and Wellawaya.
Entered politics
and became the MP for Haputale in the first Parliament of
Ceylon from 1947-52
and for AluthNuwara in the second parliament from 1952-55. + Vivina

Akiriya after the demise of his wife.
Spent his last days in solitude and his demise was at Akiriya.
Last of the
family to occupy the Rambukpotha Maha Walauwa and with his
departure to Ekiriya
this majestic Walauwa went into complete neglect and decay
until it was
partially restored by the Ven Rambukpotha Bodhiseeha.

alias "Alick" Rambukpotha, educated at
Kingswood College Kandy, attached to the Government Clerical
Service for a
short time and went on to live in the ancestral village of
Akiriya situated
near the confluence of Hepola Oya and Loggal Oya in Oya
Palatha. This was a
former Royal Village (Gabadagama)
that
was granted to the family in later British times when family
lands in the
center of towns were acquired for public purposes. Marksman.
Unique collection of Dutch and early British Muzzle Loading
Guns adorned the

from Prince Chan-dragupta, one of those who brought the branch
of the sacred Bo
Tree from India to Ceylon. A Prince of this family married the
Princess Swarna-mati,
a sister of Raja Sinha I., King of Kandy ; his son was Taldena
Banda, and his
grandson Taldena was Adigar and Disawa of Uva. The records of
this
distinguished family are singularly complete, and bring the
descent down, through
a long line of high office-holders, to Taldena Banda, Ratema-
hatmaya of Viyaluwa, father of the subject of the present
notice. Was Ratemahatmaya
of Yatikinda for twenty years. Residence : Badulla.
