GOONERATNE FAMILY #3174

Kukule Korale was located about 30 miles inwards from Kalutara, just beyond Pasdun Korale, East. The Gooneratne's of Galle are said to have hailed from Kukule Korale mahatmaya, who is believed to have married a lady from Sabaragamuwa, (Ratnapura)  and is said to have migrated to Galle in 1690 , in early Dutch times ,and was korala of Wellabada pattu, Galle in 1690's. Gooneratne family belonged to the Goyigama Mudliyar class.
