knighted in 1900 In 1900 he Represented the Ceylon Tea Industry at the International Exhibition in Paris + Mary Hume Craven Smedley 1846 - Ceylon, Colombo. in 1865, she was the daughter of E H Smedley Judge of Columbo, Ceylon They were, possibly, married in Ceylon In 1919, she, widow of William Wilson Mitchell, donated the bell for the Church at Ceylon, Sri Lanka
