John Cecil Cooke states, on the death of his uncle - During the Japanese occupation of /malaysia 1942-1945

no one was allowed to listen to the BBC as the Japanese did not want us  to know how the war was progressing..]

my  uncle Gerald Foenander (who we called Uncle Bunny) secretly listened to the BBC and gave the news to a few

good friends..  the japanese military police found out and took him in and locked him up..  he  was tortured  ( finger nails

 pulled out ) and finaly sent to  their cells  in the Japanesse military police  HQ.. in singapore where he  died (while

in the military police cells ) in 1944  ....    died in a internment camp at kuala lumper selangor

My grandaunt Maud Christobel Foenander b: 21 Nov 1891, her middle name has been spelt wrongly. It was "Christabel" like mine and not "Christobel". I remember my father reffering to her as Auntie Christa as she never used her first name Maud. Thanks!
