John CAMPBELL and his wife Mary (nee Bryce) left Western Australia about 1864 and took their youngest 4 or 5 children with them to Colombo. Archibald born 1855 taught at the Royal College Colombo, until he retired in 1899 and then took up a post as Headmaster of one of the Catholic Colleges in Colombo (name of college not known) He married Therese De Zilva and died at 60 years of age in 1909. Another son Norman Angus Campbell (my great-great-grandfather) wrote in his memoirs that he worked with the Native Police in Colombo until he was recruited to act as interpreter for the Portugese speaking Sinhalese indentured to work
in the Queensland, Australia cane fields. I have no knowledge of what happened to two other children Colin Campbell born 1857 in Western Australia and Alexander Sinclair Campbell, the twin of Norman Angus Campbell
